The sloped railway track in Laas, a technical cultural property of South Tyrol, was built in 1929 and taken in enterprise in October 1930. To the 80. Birthday of the sloped railway track, on 29 August 2010, the new topic way – the sloped railway track way - was opened.
The sloped railway track way leads from the valley station of the marble sloped railway track (876m) in zigzags to the St. Martinchurch and up to the mountain station at the “Bremsberg” (1.355m).
From the panorama point at „the change “of the load bridges, we have a wonderful view to Laas and the Vinschgau sun mountain.
That way is in the National Park Stilfserjoch and in the spruce-larch-forest.
At the sloped railway track way, 5 boards inform over:
- the valley station in “Loch” and the building history of the sloped
railway track starting from the year 1929
- the technical data to the sloped railway track
- the St. Martinchurch from that 17. century and the marble
transport in times before the building of the sloped railway track
- the mountain station at the “Bremsberg”
- a short firm portrait of the Laas of marble work and recital the
historical mining places.

Information to the Laas marble mining:
- the electrical ropeway at the gallery entrance of the marble
quarry „Weißwasser“ spans the Laas valley and lowers the
broken marble blocks into the location „Aufleig “
- the upper railway with diesel locomotive brings the blocks over
altogether a 1.800m long track up to the “Bremsberg”
- the sloped railway track lowers the blocks from 1.355m on 876m
into the bottom of the valley
- the likewise the same-trieven lower railway brings the stones of
the valley station in the „Loch “over „the iron bridge“ of the Etsch
under the cranes in the marble camp.
