The idyllic mountain village of Tanas, municipal district within the principal Laas municipality, lies closely nestled along the slopes of the Vinschgau’s Sonnenberg.
In years 1968/1969, the road connecting Tanas up with Laas was laid in, and five years later the road to Schluderns was also extended.
The stretch of road running between Laas and Schluderns is nowadays considered as one of the most beautiful panoramic routes in the whole of the Vinschgau. It offers a unique, breathtaking view of the Stilfser Joch pass with all the underlying Vinschgau mid-valley districts.
Two principal landmarks in Tanas are the “Herzen Jesu” Parish Church consacrated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, further to the not so far off St. Peter’s Church, that dates back to 1769.
