The small village of Tschengls lies at the feet of the high and mighty Tschengls rock face, that falls under the Stilfser Joch National Park boundaries.
The houses belonging to this separate municipal district within the principal Laas municipality lie closely nestled up against the rock face, with the village church steeple towering conspicuously to overlook the surrounding neatly erected hedge rows, apricot trees and the Tschengls biotope valley banks.
Particularly noteworthy sites located in and around Tschengls are the Maria Geburt parish church dating back to year 1500 and consecrated to the Nativity of Mary, featuring a side chapel classified as being one of the most beautiful sacred baroque buildings in the whole of the Vinschgau; the St. Ottilia church, a simple construction with an octagonal chorus and barrel vaults and, of course, the Tschenglsburg castle.
